Digging Data Template

In this project you have to write your own brief. You have to come up with a problem that could be solved using a databse. Remember the business idea that you came up with in Doing Business? You could create a customer or product database for that.

Your database must have the following

  • At least 6 fields
  • At least one look up field ( drop down)
  • At least 10 records ( you can make the details)
  • One input form with a title, resized fields and record navigation buttons
  • One report with the records grouped by a particular category
  • One query that selects certain records for a particular problem

Brief


The problem is my bussiness needs a list of customer which shows the customer's details clearly.
The software I will use to solve the problem is Access. This has the following useful features that will help to get the job done.

Tables

display your information on a large table showing all the input details.

Forms

screens for displaying data from and inputting data into your tables, it shows one record at a time.

Reports

take information of the data base and make easy to read.

Queries

helps us to look at particular informations.

Making a Report

Evaluation
Say why database skills are important. State the advantages of a computerised database over a paper based database (Remember the pictures we discussed in class). Discuss which methods you found best to learn database skills. What improvements could you make to your database in the future?
