We have to design an animated web banner which advertise school event to make students invovled, using Macromedia Flash 8. This advertisement has to be entertaining eye catching and relevent to encourage the students at Tauranga Girls' College to participate. Also it needs to give all the neccessary details.We will write our brief in consultation with our teacher, including the dimensions and file type restrictions. Our final project report will be presented on a single web page and will outline our learning process and the use of the technology cycle.
Learning to Use Flash
I have learnt how to use Flash 8, an animation software that i can use it when i'm creating moving images. I can use different types of skills and techniques on Flash 8. When I first started using Flash 8 I did not know what is the programe for and how to use it, but I learnt many different skills and techniquesof using Flash 8 from Mr Chapman, His Videos and my Class mates. Now I know how to create motions tweens, how to make symbols, rotate and how to add motion guides on to my moving images.
Motion tween is tweening a Symbol's movement from one position to another. Tweening allows the movie to be displayed smoothly from one frame to another or in other words creating motion in your Flash movie. When I create a motion tweens, l drew a shape, converted it to symbol then l inserted a key frame and draged the shape to the right of the screen to move the position. And l added many key frames and l moved the position of the shape of every frames. After l finished l created motion tweens between every frames. It made my animation moves smoothly.

Here is my first animations. I turned onion skins on and erased and redrew the picture to make it move. l made this animation frame by frame.
These are my practise animations. For these moving animations I added motion guides, Tweens, symbols and key frames.

What Makes a Good Banner Advertisement?
These are a few qualities that generally make for more effective banner ads in many situations
1.Strong visuals.Good design.
2.Keep banner ad size small. Lf the page takes too long to load, a lot of visitors will go on to another page.
3.Put banner ads at the top of the page, rather than farther down.
4.Use simple messages rather than complicated ones.
5.Use animated ads so it catches people's eyes easily.
6.Advertise a particular product or service, rather than your site generally.
7.If yuo do advertise a particular product or service, link the banner ad to that part of your Web site, rather than your home page.
8.Post banner ads on pages with related Web content -- the more related, the better.
9.Make it visually appealing with interesting content and to intelligently place the ads so they are exposed to audiences that would be interested in them.
10.Can add some arts and illustrations.

This sample web banner design really caudht my attention because its bright colour. Its yellow, red and black colours made the banner looks professtional and It shows what it's advertising clearly, fencing and gates. And the graphic of fences shows what its topic is also the layout of this web banner already caught my attention.
This web banner caught my attention because of its graphic and the technique that it used. But I had to think a bit before i reliazed what they are advertiding for, also the bold is too small to catch people's attentions and it didn't use enough colours.I don't think this is a good example.

This is Carmen,Alex and I's final animation that advertise Tauranga Gril's and Boys' College's event, Grease. Here we used Motion Tweens, Symbols, Key Frame, Onion skin and Motion Giudes.

I have Learnt how to use Flash 8 to create animations that advertises an Tauranga Girls and Boys College Event. I have learnt how to make Animations, Create motion tweens, frame by frame animations, Onion skins, Motion Guides, Layer by layer, Rotating guide, how to make Symbols and I also learnt how to Publish our animations on to our wikis. I made my final animation that advertise Tauranga Girls' and Boys' College's Grease using Flash 8 with Alex and Carmen. It was easy to make animtion because l have learnt how to use Flash to make an animation and many useful skills. I learnt and revised many skill by watching the videos. Videos from Mr. Chapman was really helpful. Now i have new skills that I can use in future animations.
I think we did well on making an moving image that advertise school event using various techniques that we have learnt during the class and by watching videos. Next time l would like to add sound on our animation.
